About

CaseMaster is a highly practical, interactive and advanced case-based problem solving program. The objective of the course is to support you in building a strong problem solving muscle that would enable you to greatly increase the efficiency and quality of your problem solving abilities no matter your background or line work.

During the program, we will present you with a series of business problems (e.g., estimating the market size for a specific product or service, designing a market entry strategy, developing a growth strategy for a company, evaluating potential acquisition targets, developing a new government policy), and share with you tools and methodologies that you can use to analyze those business problems like a top tier management consultant would, along with examples on how these tools can be applied successfully.

For each business problem, we will provide you with real-life case studies, and give you opportunity to roll-up your sleeves and solve them in break-out rooms with other participants. After solving the case in your breakout rooms, we will reconvene for a comprehensive debriefing to reflect on your experience solving the case and addressing any questions you may have.

Each module will be led by an experienced management consultant who is an Alumnus / Alumnae from a top tier consulting firm like McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, or Bain & Company. The program has eight modules of 2 hours each, meaning you will go through the above described experience eight times. Repeating this cycle so many times, across so many different topics, with many different groups, and facilitated by experienced coaches, will significantly improve your ability to successfully solve problems in your day-to-day careers.

Program Schedule

The program will goes over Four Saturdays from 09:00am to 02:00pm (KSA time), and will take place virtually. The dates are 05 October 2024, 12 October 2024, 19 October 2024 and 26 October 2024. Lunch and prayer breaks will be provided. The program will be delivered in English.

The following modules / topics will be covered on day 1 of the program:

Growth Strategy

Mastering how to think about growth is critical for any business. All businesses are fundamentally looking to grow, and there are many different ways to do so. For example, a KSA food brand looking to expand could focus on increasing sales of existing products in KSA, add additional products (e.g., beverages) to its portfolio in KSA, or expand with the existing product portfolio to additional countries.

Market Sizing

Market sizing skills are essential for assessing market opportunities and potential. They are crucial for strategic planning and investment decisions. Examples for typical market sizing efforts may include assessing the demand for sports tourism in KSA, or the market potential for telemedicine services.

The following modules / topics will be covered on day 2 of the program:

Market Entry

A lot of different questions have to be considered when entering a new market (e.g., competitive landscape, political and legal factors, market size, opportunity costs, etc.). Examples for market entry efforts could be an international pharmaceutical company looking to launch one of their products in KSA, or a local company looking to enter a new market in the same country.

Profitability

Understanding the different types of profitability (e.g., what are the differences between gross margins, operating margins, contribution margins; what is ROI and how is it different from ROA), how they can be measured, as well as their drivers, is crucial to make effective business decisions. A company could be profitable on paper but still fail, and could have low profit margins but still be highly successful.

The following modules / topics will be covered on day 3 of the program:

Pricing

Pricing is one of the most important and undervalued drivers of sales and profitability for any business, with a sheer unlimited number of options (e.g., value-based pricing, cost-plus pricing, competition-based pricing, volume pricing, bundling, etc.). Knowing how to best think about the solution space in pricing is a key competency for any business leader.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Mergers & Acquisitions are an important tool for large organizations to improve growth and build long-term business sustainability. For example, an automaker could develop software for its cars from scratch, or acquire a specialized software start-up focused on cars to speed up their journey to create a proprietary software stack.

The following modules / topics will be covered on day 3 of the program:

Process Efficiency / Lean Management

Reducing process inefficiencies / improving productivity are critical levers to improve the performance of organizations across all functions and sectors. Lean principles and frameworks like Six Sigma are today applied in healthcare, government, manufacturing, and many other sectors.

Policy Design

A lot of consulting work today is focused on supporting government entities in government policy design (e.g., environmental policy for tourism sites, incentives for renewable energy generation, regulation for the logistics industry). Mastering the ins and outs of policy design is crucial for businesses to better understand governments, as well as for consultants to better support governments in designing policy.
